Memory assessments

Some degree of memory loss is normal with ageing. It is still possible to have quality of life, engaging with staff, fellow residents, friends, and family and live well with cognitive impairment. It is important to minimise the use of medications that can impair mental abilities and enhance management of medical conditions to reduce further deterioration. It is also important to recognise when there is an underlying medical condition that needs proper diagnosis and appropriate medical management. Management of memory loss is a team effort with contributions from our GPs, care staff, pharmacists, allied health and geriatrician input.
